Use cases
An agent, one press away.
At the end, your plan has a button that makes an agent draft this week's update. You approve it, and nothing goes out until you do.
What you need
- Agents are on every plan: one on Free, three on Plus and five on Pro. On Free, an agent works with your own AI provider account. See Your own AI.
- A plan with some work in it. See Plans and tasks.
- An agent shared with you. To make the button, you also need to manage the agent. Owners and admins can.
- A connected Microsoft 365 mailbox, if you want the email draft too. See Microsoft 365 mail. Without one, the agent can still write the update into the plan.
- Asking an agent is free. A button run uses credits, unless your own AI provider account does the work. See Credits.
Steps
Steps 1 to 6 make the button, once. If someone has already done that for you, start at step 7.
Make or choose an agent
Open Agents in the sidebar. To make one, press New agent and go through its four short pages. Or open an agent you already have.Add a duty
On the agent's page, open the Duties tab and press Add a duty. The set-up opens over the page in five short pages.Set how it starts
On How it starts, choose A button on items. Under On, choose Plans. Under Where, choose In a project and pick your project. Type the Words on the button, for example Email this week's update. Press Next.Say what it does
On What it does, name the duty and write its instructions in plain words. For example:
promptRead the plan, its tasks and what changed in the last seven days. Write a short update for the team: what finished, what changed, what is late and who owns it, and what comes next. Add it to the plan's activity. Then find the mail called "Checkout relaunch: this week" and draft a reply to it with the same update. Never send it.
Choose what it may use
On What it may use, press Add a connected app and choose your mailbox. A new one starts at Read only, so set its level to Read and draft. With no mailbox, leave the email out of the instructions.Choose how far it may go alone
On How far it may go alone, choose Ask before each send, so the draft waits for you. The agent's own approvals decide whether the update for the plan waits too. Press Next to reach Review, then press Save duty.Press the button
Open your plan from Plans in the sidebar and press Agents in its toolbar. The menu says For this plan, and lists your button with its agent. The plan's Agents menu: your button, its agent, and Run. Run it

Press Review. The Approvals page shows each step the agent wants to take. The first is the email draft, word for word. Press Approve, or Decline. The draft, word for word, before anything happens. Approve the update for the plan
Approve the next step too: the update for the plan. Approve all approves every waiting step at once.Find the week, written up
Go back to the plan and press its Activity view in the toolbar. The update is there, marked Agent. The email draft waits in your mailbox's Drafts folder, so send it yourself when you are ready. The week, written up in the plan's activity.
Nothing is sent for you
With the mailbox at Read and draft, the agent can only write a draft. You send it yourself, from your own mail app.
What to try next
- Add a second way to start the same duty, such as a schedule for each plan, every Friday afternoon.
- Put a button on documents, whiteboards, tasks, improvements, database rows or dashboards too.
