Data

Dashboards that stay live.

A dashboard turns the tables of a database into charts and numbers that update as the rows change. Build one in a few clicks, give each person their own filters, and pin it where your team starts its day.

A dashboard over one database: numbers, columns, a trend and a donut, filtered by a slicer.

Make a dashboard

  1. Add it to the database

In the database's tab strip press + Add and choose Dashboard. Name it and press Create.
  2. Add visuals

In edit mode press Add a visual. The menu suggests visuals for your tables, and can add several suggestions at once; or search for the kind you want.
  3. Arrange and finish

Drag a visual to move it and pull its corner to size it (the arrow keys work too), add pages if you need them, check the phone layout, then press Done. Changes save as you go, and undo takes them back one at a time.

If you can edit the database, your dashboard is shared with everyone who can open it. If you can only view the database, you can still make a dashboard just for you.

Edit mode: add a visual, a page or a filter, and see each change saved as you work.

Many come in variations, such as stacked or 100% stacked bars and columns, a multi-row card, or a date range, dropdown or button slicer. How many visuals a page and a dashboard hold depends on your plan (see limits).

Pages

A dashboard can have several pages, each with its own visuals. Copy a page, move it, or make it a detail page: pressing a point on a visual then opens that page, filtered to what was pressed.

Filters, slicers and bookmarks

  • Slicers and filter pills sit in a row above the visuals. On a phone they fold into one Filters button.
  • What a viewer filters applies to them alone. Reset to the author's filters brings back the dashboard as it was made.
  • While editing, a filter can apply to one visual, a page or the whole dashboard, and can be locked or hidden.
  • Bookmarks save a view of the dashboard with its filters: up to 20 of your own, and up to 50 shared with everyone.

How live it is

An open dashboard updates as its rows change: within a couple of seconds on most tables, and less often on very large ones. The header says how fresh the numbers are. If live updates pause, it checks again on its own every 30 seconds, and Refresh fetches the latest at any time.

Pin it to a home page

Open the dashboard's menu and choose Pin to a home page: the project's, the workspace's or the organisation's. A pinned dashboard shows on that home page for everyone who can open the database, and refreshes by itself every few minutes while the page is open. People who manage the home page can reorder or unpin what is there. Only shared dashboards can be pinned.

Share and download

Copy link to this view gives a link with your filters in it. A link gives nobody any rights: whoever opens it sees only what they may see.

Download a page as a PNG, a JPEG or a PDF, or every page as one PDF. Downloads show the dashboard as its author set it, before anyone's own filters. You can also duplicate a dashboard, see its history, or export it to import into another database.

Who can change it

Anyone who can edit the database can change its shared dashboards, unless a manager has locked one. Dashboards you delete wait in the database's trash for 30 days.

Limits

Your plan sets how many dashboards a database holds, how many pages and visuals each one has, and how many can be pinned to a home page. Usage, at the top of the database, shows how many dashboards it holds against your plan, and pricing compares the plans. Dashboards do not count towards your database storage.
